It’s no secret that Carrolltonians love their local Chick-fil-As, and it appears that the restaurant chain has taken note as a third Carrollton location could be in the works. The project titled “North Carrollton FSU (Free-Standing Unit)” is under consideration for the property at 1302 US Highway 27 (North Park Street), between Carrollton Church of Christ and Mike Bell Chevrolet and near the intersection with Georgia Highway 113. According to plans released by the City of Carrollton as part of the agenda packet for their June 20 work session, the project calls for a restaurant building with a double drive thru, 100 interior seats and 16 exterior seats for dining in, and 56 parking spaces. The building will be facing the highway generally longways.
However, before Chick-fil-A can complete the purchase of the property and break ground, a rezoning request from C-2 (General Commercial) to Planned Development (PD) must be approved by the city to allow for parking to be in front of the building which the Carrollton Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) doesn’t allow under C-2 zoning. The request has already been unanimously approved by the city’s planning commission and will be considered by the city council at their June 20 work session, followed by an official vote taken on the matter at the next city council meeting on July 8.
