“It is an honor to have been recognized by this city that has done so much for me. I believe we are who we are because of where we come from and there is no better place to call home than LaGrange!,” said Key. ”LaGrange has poured into me, offered me countless opportunities, and encouraged me through my whole life.”

Key was honored for being an exemplary representative of the City of LaGrange. Among her long list of accomplishments include being a Top Ten Finalist in the Miss America’s Teen competition. As a talented musician who made it to the American Idol in-person auditions earlier this year, she continues to perform with her sister Kitty Key as Country Music Duo Kit and Char. Key also won the local talent competition LaGrange Has Talent.

The Mayor and City Council recognize that Charlie is also a dedicated leader as she served the LaGrange Youth Council for two years and was elected two years in a row to serve in the role of the Council’s Historian. Charlie was her school’s 2024 Salutatorian and during her time at Springwood School, she served as the Student Government Association President and then elected to the state’s SGA President through the AISA. In this position, she led the SGA state initiative of raising $18,000 for Ashlie’s Embrace, a non-profit organization that supports families experiencing stillbirth or infant loss. Charlie also is the founder of the “Be the Light” Ministry, which includes a podcast and weekly Bible Study with speaking and worship engagements. As a competitive athlete, Charlie served as the Varsity Soccer Captain from 2022 to 2024 for her School’s soccer team and was selected to play on the All-Star State Soccer Team and named an All-Tournament Player in the AISA Soccer Final Four Game in 2023.

“It is my honor and pleasure to recognize all of the accomplishments of Charlie Key. We are proud to claim her as one of our own and celebrate her on this day now officially, ‘Miss Georgia Teen 2023 Charlie Key Day,’” said Mayor Jim Arrington. “It’s important for us to celebrate our young leaders. What a great future we have with wonderful leaders like Charlie.”
