Bremen City Schools Nutrition Receives Healthy Meals Incentives Recognition Award

Bremen City Schools (BCS) Nutrition has been honored with a Healthy Meals Incentives Recognition Award for its commitment to improving the nutritional quality of school meals. The award, presented by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) in collaboration with Action for Healthy Kids (AFHK), recognizes school districts for excellence in school meal programs.

BCS received the Innovation in the Preparation of School Meals Award for incorporating new, chef-inspired menu items prepared from scratch using a local agricultural product or USDA food, following USDA standardized recipe processes. This initiative prioritizes nutrition, presentation, and high-quality ingredients, helping elevate the program to better serve students’ palates.

“We congratulate Bremen City Schools on this important achievement,” said Rob Bisceglie, Executive Officer & President of Action for Healthy Kids. “The HMI Recognition Awards showcase innovative school nutrition practices that provide children with access to nutritious school meals.”

As an award recipient, Bremen City Schools will receive national and local recognition, along with travel stipends to attend the Healthy Meals Summit in Las Vegas, NV.

The HMI Recognition Awards are open to all school districts. More information is available at:
