The first show, “Songs & Stories: A Cabaret,” will run in the Townsend CenterDangle Black Box Theatre from March 5-8 at 7:30 p.m. and March 9 at 2:30 p.m. with a community preview on March 4 at 7:30 p.m. A collaboration between UWG Theatre and Music, “Songs and Stories” will take you on a melodic theatrical journey.

“‘Songs and Stories’ is an intimate and sweet cabaret of popular Broadwaymusical tunes dealing with the complicated lifelong relationships we create and nurture,” described Shelly Elman, program coordinator and professor of theatre.

The Sound of Music” will run at the Carrollton Center for the Arts (CCA) on April 23-26 at 7:30 p.m. and April 26-27 at 2 p.m., with a community preview on April 22 at 7:30 p.m. Coproduced with the CCA and its youth ensemble, this production follows the Von Trapp family as they sing their way through the perils of wartime, oppression and a burgeoning love story. The show will be directed by UWG Professor of Theatre Dr. Pauline Gagnon.

“‘The Sound of Music’ is a heartwarming musical about family survival and love,” Elman concluded. “Come sing along with us as we explore the love, life and laughter that we experience with our friends and family.”
