New Coin Shop Opens on the Square, Continuing a Legacy of Collecting

Downtown Carrollton has welcomed a new addition to the Square with the opening of D-Rob’s Coins, a shop dedicated to coins, currency, gold, and silver. The store, located at 412 Adamson Square, takes over the space previously occupied by Baxley Jewelers, whose owners retired earlier this year.

For David Robinson, the shop’s owner, this opening is the realization of a long-held ambition. “My desire to open a coin, currency, gold, and silver storefront has been a goal for a few years,” Robinson said. “Seeking a location on the Square was a challenge, which was finally achieved in recent months with the opportunity to negotiate 412 Adamson Square to become home for D-Rob’s Coins.”

Robinson is no stranger to the world of numismatics. His passion for collecting began over 55 years ago, inspired by his father, a lifelong collector who made his first purchase in 1948. “His inspiration and love were contagious, which we shared for years,” Robinson explained. “It was a desire to expand and continue our shared love of coins, currency, gold, and silver to provide the novice and avid collector and investor a hub to meet their needs in buying and selling.”

The shop caters to a wide variety of customers, from hobbyists and seasoned collectors to investors seeking precious metal bullion. Shoppers will find old coins of all denominations, silver and gold coins, numismatic coinage, graded and ungraded pieces, Confederate bills, small and large notes, mint and proof sets, and a selection of supplies.

Beyond retail, D-Rob’s Coins offers appraisals, estate evaluations, and brokerage services for single transactions or larger commodity deals. “Much pride is taken in furnishing our clients with selling, buying, appraising, and brokering single or commodity transactions,” Robinson said. “We work with lawyers and individuals on estates, offering appraisals and quotes.”

Robinson is deeply involved in the numismatic community, regularly attending coin shows across six states. He is a member of multiple professional organizations, including ANA, GNA, SCNA, NCNA, ANS, FUN, and TSNS, and is also an NGC Authorized Dealer and a Round Table Authorized Dealer.

As he opens his doors to the Carroll County community, Robinson is grateful for the trust his clients have placed in him over the years. “I would like to thank the many clients from Carroll County and surrounding towns that have placed their trust in me to serve them with fairness, honesty, and integrity for many years. And I’m looking forward to the blessing of serving them many more,” he said.

D-Rob’s Coins is now open on the Square, providing a new hub for collectors and investors alike. Whether you’re a seasoned numismatist or just starting your collection, Robinson’s shop offers a wealth of history and opportunity in every coin.
