Carroll County Schools Announces Leadership Changes

The Carroll County Board of Education approved a number of school leadership changes for next school year at its March 20 meeting.

Angela Hopewell

Angela Hopewell will be principal at Ithica Elementary School after serving as the elementary principal at Landmark Christian School since 2019. She taught in both public and private schools at the elementary level before moving into administration eight years ago. Hopewell has also served as a middle school graduation coach and AVID coordinator. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Spelman College and a master’s degree from Walden University. She is enrolled at Walden University seeking a Doctor of Education degree. Hopewell is an alumna of Teach for America. She and her husband, Kamau, have a son and a daughter.

LaTeisha Drummond

North College & Career Academy Coordinator LaTeisha Drummond has been named Coordinator of the South College and Career Academy. Drummond is a native of Carroll County and joined the 24STRONG Team in 2013. During her tenure, she has gained a broad range of experience in the classroom and as an administrator at Temple High School. Drummond is an alumna of both West Georgia Technical College and the University of West Georgia. She has an associate degree in business administration, a bachelor’s degree in business education, a master’s of education in instructional technology, and a Tier I certification in educational leadership. Drummond has been North CCA coordinator since 2022

Shayna Moses

Replacing Drummond at North CCA will be Shayna Moses who currently serves as an assistant principal at Central High School. Prior to coming to Central in 2023, Moses was Career, Technical & Agricultural Education Chair at Villa Rica High School where she taught Business Education and Computer Science and was advisor to the school’s Future Business Leaders of America chapter. Moses began her teaching career in 2000 and also has served as an adjunct instructor at West Georgia Technical College. Moses earned a bachelor of science degree and master’s degree in business education, both from the University of West Georgia. She has a specialist degree in Teaching and Learning from Piedmont College. She and her husband, Ken, have three children.

The board also named five new assistant principals for next year. Villa Rica Elementary School fifth grade teacher Shadra Tomei will be an assistant principal at Bay Springs Middle School. Central Middle School ESOL teacher Dr. Erika Krebs will be assistant principal at Sand Hill Elementary School. Villa Rica High School Instructional Coach Elizabeth Lynch will be an assistant principal at VRHS. Villa Rica Middle School MTSS Coordinator Kimberly Benford will be an assistant principal at VRMS.  Temple Middle School eighth grade teacher Shane Herringdine will be assistant principal at Mount Zion High School.
