Come Meet the Authors at the 3rd Annual Carrollton BookFest, April 5, 2025

The Carrollton Center for the Arts will be the site of cozy conversations with a parade of authors. The Featured Author is Karen White, a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of 34 books, including the Royal Street and the Tradd Street series, The Last Night in London, Dreams of Falling, The Night the Lights Went Out, Flight Patterns, The Sound of Glass, and A Long Time Gone. She is the coauthor of The Author’s Guide to Murder, with New York Times bestselling authors Beatriz Williams and Lauren Willig. She grew up in London but now lives with her husband near Atlanta, Georgia. 

An interview with Terah Shelton Harris is the culminating event of the One Book, One Community. Her first book, One Summer in Savannah, was chosen for this inaugural community wide activity. She will be interviewed by Matt Jolley with time for questions. Later in the day, participants will have the opportunity for a more intimate experience in the salon-style setting of “Conversation with Terah Shelton Harris.” 

Continuing the conversational tone, the morning sessions will begin with coffee and pastries and the chance to visit with four outstanding authors. Mary Martha Greene is the author of The Cheese Biscuit Queen Tells All and The Cheese Biscuit Queen: Kiss My Aspic. After a long career in government relations, business development and consulting, she turned to her love of cooking and baking. She shares these skills with at-risk youth who label her the “culinary Mary Poppins.” Also, during the morning, Bret Witter will share his experience as an editor and writer/co-author for a wide variety of successful books including Dewey: The Small Town Library Cat Who Touched the World (a New York Times best seller spending six months in the top five), and The Monuments Men which was turned into the movie by George Cluney. Bret focuses on the nobility of the ordinary, his heroes find happiness and purpose.

Rounding out the morning are Kim Conrey and George Weinstein, a power couple in the Atlanta publishing world. Kim was named Georgia Author of the Year in Romance in 2023. She is the author of the sci-fi romance series Ares Ascending and the urban fantasy, Nicholas Eternal. A member of Wild Women Who Write, she collaborates on a podcast where they interview authors and industry professionals with the primary goal of supporting female writers. George Weinstein is the author of eight novels including the suspense thriller Watch What You Say, the mystery Aftermath, and the Southern historical novel Hardscrabble Road and its sequel, Return to Hardscrabble Road. A member of the Atlanta Writers Club, he is the Executive Director and is instrumental in the club’s excellent programming for writers.

Historical fiction and real life courtroom drama are the fare of the afternoon sessions. In addition to Ms. Harris, Lynn Cullen and McCracken Poston Jr. will meet readers. Lynn Cullen’s historical novel, Mrs. Poe, was named a Book of the Week by People Magazine, an Oprah Book of the Week and Best of 2013 by Atlanta Magazine. More accolades followed for her book, Twain’s End. She received the Georgia Author of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award in June 2020. Her most recent book, The Woman with Cure, a novel about the race for the polio vaccine, is receiving international acclaim. The focus of her writing is on books that make you marvel at our resilience and at our potential goodness. McCracken Poston, Jr. is a is a practicing criminal defense attorney and former state legislator in the Georgia House of Representatives. He gained national attention for his handling of several notable cases that were featured on CNN Presents, Dateline NBC, A&E’s American Justice, and Forensic Files. His debut novel, The Zenith Man: Death. Love, and Redemption in a Georgia Courtroom will keep you on the edge of your seat! Join us for an exciting day on April 5th.
