Keep Carroll Beautiful to Host Free Household Hazardous Waste Collection & Paper Shredding Event

Keep Carroll Beautiful is hosting a FREE 2-in-1 Recycling Event designed to help residents safely dispose of hard-to-recycle items on May 17 at Midway Church in Villa Rica. The event focuses on two key areas: Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection and secure paper shredding, helping the community reduce clutter, prevent pollution, and protect personal information.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection
Residents can drop off items such as paint, automotive fluids, household pesticides, solvent-based products, and items containing mercury.

Paper Shredding – Powered by Access
Securely dispose of sensitive documents! Households may bring up to three free bankers’ boxes. Additional items will incur a small fee.

Drop-Off Limits and Fees:

  • Paint: First 5 gallons per household are free. $1/gallon fee applies beyond the limit.
  • Fluorescent Bulbs: Up to 20 bulbs per household. $1 per extra bulb. Only straight and U-bend bulbs accepted.
  • Batteries: Please pre-sort into Alkaline, Lithium, NiCad, and Other to help speed up the drop-off process.

 Excluded Items:

  • CFL (Curly) Bulbs: Please recycle these at Home Depot or Lowe’s.
  • Cordless Tool Batteries: Recyclable year-round at local home improvement stores.
  • Grill Gas Cans: Can be taken to local metal recyclers for free.
