Chicken lovers and craft beer fans, get ready — Waldo’s Chicken & Beer is preparing to open its doors very soon in the Thomas Crossroads area of Sharpsburg. Taking over the former KFC location at 3430 E Highway 34, the new restaurant is nearly finished with its interior construction and is moving closer to welcoming its first guests.
The highly anticipated eatery, part of a growing regional chain, was first announced in 2023 and has since drawn the attention of locals eager to try its signature hot chicken and Southern-style comfort fare. Known for its laid-back vibe and flavorful menu, Waldo’s offers a unique twist on the classic chicken-and-beer combo that’s taken the Southeast by storm.
As of now, Waldo’s Chicken & Beer Sharpsburg (WCB Sharpsburg LLC) is working through the final steps of opening, with an important milestone coming up: the restaurant will apply for its Beer and Wine License on June 3, 2025. The public hearing with the Coweta County Board of Commissioners is scheduled for 6:00 p.m..
The proposed license would allow the location to serve beer and wine alongside its hearty chicken dishes — one of the chain’s signature draws.
The restaurant is expected to bring new energy to the well-trafficked intersection at Thomas Crossroads, breathing new life into a spot that had sat vacant since KFC’s closure. As construction wraps up and final preparations are made, excitement continues to build among residents who are eager for a fresh dining option that blends casual eats with quality craft brews.
