Meet Richard Bass, the newest Alfa Insurance agent in Carrollton, Georgia. With a brand-new office located just off Cunningham Drive near the University of West Georgia, Richard is here to serve the community he and his family have proudly called home for the past 15 years.
Richard’s story is one of resilience, passion, and a deep commitment to helping others. A lifelong Georgia native and a Carroll County resident since 2009, Richard has spent over two decades leading teams and solving problems across a range of industries — from hardware to finance, real estate to property management. But at the heart of every role, one thing remained the same: helping people.
“Every job I’ve ever had has been about helping others — whether it was guiding someone through a home renovation, supporting them through financial hurdles, or helping them find a place to live,” Richard shared. “Now, I get to help people protect the things that matter most.”
Like many, Richard’s life took an unexpected turn when he was laid off in February 2025 — a first in his career. He caught wind of what was to come around July or August of last year. That is when he and his wife put the plan in motion to open an insurance agency. But instead of seeing it as an end, he and his wife saw a beginning.
“I could’ve started applying to other jobs, but something inside me said it was time for more — time to build something for myself, for my family, and for my community,” he said.
With the full support of his wife (and a not-so-subtle push to keep things local), Richard began the journey of opening his own Alfa Insurance agency right in the heart of Carrollton.
“She said, ‘If you’re going to do this, it has to be here.’ And she was right. Our kids go to Carrollton City Schools. We’re at the ball fields, the cheer competitions, school events — this is our community. It only made sense to invest right here at home.”
Starting from scratch isn’t easy — especially in a town where, yes, there are plenty of insurance agents. But Richard is up for the challenge.
“I didn’t inherit a book of business. This is truly from the ground up. But that’s also what makes it special. Every client, every conversation, every policy — it’s earned.”
Richard officially began operations in March 2025 and has been steadily building his client base ever since. With licenses in property, casualty, life, and health insurance, he’s ready to help families and businesses across West Georgia find coverage that fits their lives and budgets.
