The David Pippin Group
The Amp’s Locals Live concert series continues Friday, June 6, with performances by The David Pippin Group and The Powers Trio.
The Powers Trio features Robert Powers, Joe Johnson and Jonathan Dorsey. All have performed and recorded with numerous bands, duos and solo acts over the past three decades including Southern Remedy, The Muscadine Mafia, Backstreet, Whooping Creek Jam, The Mix, Marshall Law and the David Pippin Group. The members of the acoustic trio perform original music and songs by favorite artists and genres spanning decades.
The David Pippin Group is guitarist David Pippin, drummer Kelley Warner, keyboardist Alex Burley, vocalist Evan Crowther and bassist Jonathan Dorsey. Pippin is founder of Pippin Music Academy in Carrollton. The rock and blues-based DPG is well-known for skilled musicianship and high-energy performances. The group won the Atlanta Blues Challenge in late 2023 and was one of only 200 acts from across the globe to perform in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis last year. The band’s releases, Wednesday Night Sessions and Wednesday Night Blues, are available through most media outlets and the group is currently recording a new album.
