THS Homeless Resource Bridge Celebrates New Home with Ribbon-Cutting and Open House

After eight months of operating from temporary locations—including Carrollton First Methodist Church—THS (The Holy Spirit) Homeless Resource Bridge is celebrating a major milestone: a permanent home at 207 N. White Street in Carrollton. The organization will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house on June 3 at 5:30 p.m., with Carrollton Mayor Betty Cason in attendance to welcome the community into their new space. Attendees can tour the facility, meet volunteers, and learn about THS’s vital work assisting Carroll County’s homeless population.

Originally founded in 2014 as an emergency shelter, THS has evolved into a comprehensive resource hub, providing everything from emergency motel stay assistance and job referrals to case management. While they no longer operate a physical shelter, they remain a lifeline for those in crisis—particularly seniors facing homelessness, a rapidly growing demographic struggling with rising housing costs.

One of THS’s most critical roles is its partnership with the Community Foundation’s Connector Program, a centralized system that streamlines assistance for those in need. When someone applies through the Connector, their case is directed to the appropriate agency—whether it’s THS for motel assistance, Open Hands for food, or another organization for long-term support.

“People shouldn’t have to apply with multiple agencies when they’re already in crisis,” said Denise Swanson and Laddie Carter of the organization. “Our goal is to make sure they get help quickly and efficiently.”

As THS prepares to open its doors at its new location, the organization is calling for community support—whether through donations of gift cards for gas or fast food, monetary gifts, or volunteers to serve as advocates for clients.

The ribbon-cutting and open house will not only mark a new chapter for THS but also highlight the ongoing need for collaboration in addressing homelessness in Carroll County. The public is invited to attend, learn more about the organization’s mission, and see firsthand how THS continues to make a difference—one person, one family at a time.
