On the journey to recovery, having a community can make all the difference — offering those searching for help a lifeline connected by hope, resources and support.
On Saturday, June 7, local recovery advocates, peer-support organizations and community members and leaders from across the region will join The Recovery Spot of West Georgia for the inaugural West Georgia Recovery Rally, a first-of-its-kind event celebrating the strength, stories and community of those on the journey toward recovery.
The Recovery Spot of West Georgia, a part of Carroll County Mental Health Advocates, is Carroll County’s only recovery community organization (RCO).
“We want this event to shine a light on the hope and strength found in recovery and to rally support for the life-changing work happening across our region,” said Ginny Bouchard, executive director of Carroll County Mental Health Advocates and The Recovery Spot of West Georgia.
The event will be hosted at Paulding County Parks and Recreation at 210 Dallas Highway from 1 to 3 p.m. and will be open to all ages. No registration required.
What to expect:
· Powerful stories from individuals in recovery and guest speakers
· Appearances from community leaders to include Carrollton Mayor Betty Cason
· Free resources and access to support services
· Food, fellowship and family fun
· A community united in support of second chances
The West Georgia Recovery Rally was created to uplift individuals in recovery, connect families and allies, and raise awareness about the life-saving impact of peer-led recovery programs across the region.
The event is organized in collaboration with the Georgia Council for Recovery, Paulding Recovery Community Organization, Living Proof Recovery of Rome, Coweta Force of Newnan, Phoenix Recovery Community Organization of Austell, Mosaic Place of Cedartown, The Arena of Cartersville, Never Alone Clubhouse of Douglasville and Your Haven of Buchanan.
