After much reflection, conversation, and careful consideration, the team behind Country Bears Mercantile has made an exciting decision—it’s time for an evolution. The beloved store will be closing its Tallapoosa location over the summer, marking the end of a cherished chapter.
For the past three years, Country Bears Mercantile has been a cherished part of the Tallapoosa community. The owners have built new friendships, reconnected with old acquaintances, and been proud to contribute to the town’s growth. To their fellow merchants, residents, and city officials, they extend their deepest gratitude for the warm welcome and support.
Now, the next adventure begins.
Regular customers know that the owners have long hoped to introduce a food service component to the mercantile. With a background spanning over 25 years in the restaurant industry—including owning and operating multiple establishments in Jacksonville, Florida—they are thrilled to finally bring this vision to life.
Country Bears Mercantile is evolving into The Mercantile & Café—a brand-new concept coming to 211 Hamilton Ave in Bremen, Georgia (the former home of The Treasury Coffee & Café). This exciting new space will allow them to merge their love for unique mercantile goods with their culinary expertise.
The menu will feature Bistro/Café-style lunch, small bites, early dinner options, craft beer, wine, and weekend brunch. It’s a homecoming for the owners, who are Bremen natives eager to reconnect with and contribute to their hometown.
As preparations get underway, the team invites everyone to stay tuned for updates. They look forward to welcoming customers to their new space this July—where old favorites and fresh flavors will come together in the heart of Bremen.
The next chapter starts now. See you soon!
