CHS senior participates in Emory Pre-College Program

Jaira Garcia, a rising senior at Carrollton High School, recently completed the Emory University Pre-College Program in Atlanta. Garcia earned this opportunity after being awarded the Questbridge College Prep Scholarship in May. During the two-week residential program, Jaira studied human physiology. Her studies included hands-on experience with medical devices to measure reflexes, blood pressure, and heart rate, as well as exploring virtual human cadavers (as pictured) to learn about various organ systems. The Emory Pre-College Program is a two-week summer academic opportunity designed for high school juniors and seniors. Students get a taste of college life through non-credit courses and college-level classes, engaging with Emory professors and peers from around the world. The program fosters personal and academic growth while offering a preview of the college application process. The selective program accepts approximately 300 students each summer.
