The Carrollton Center for the Arts will launch its new exhibition season July 17 with The Joy Life Collection: New Works by Melissa Crawford and Anders Crawford Buckner.
The exhibit features works by mother and son art team, Melissa Crawford and her seventeen year-old son Anders Crawford Buckner. Each piece is designed to evoke feelings of warmth, wonder and playfulness and present vibrant reflections of joy. This collection uses color, form and creativity to uplift and inspire. With Anders growing up immersed in the world of art, he brings fresh perspective and energy to the collection, while Melissa’s 25 years of experience in fine art adds depth and emotion to their work.
“This will be a beautiful show to kick-off the new exhibit season,” said Visual Arts Coordinator Marcella Kuykendall. “I’m excited to highlight the creative legacy that flows through families as artistic knowledge and passion are passed down, inspiring a new generation of emerging artists.”

There will be an all-day, free Gallery Play workshop at the arts center, August 23, inspired by the exhibit: Joy Life Club Sessions – Celebrate Joy! There will be sessions at different times throughout the day according to age, starting at 10:30am. For more information on this workshop, go to carrolltonarts.com.
The center will celebrate the show’s opening with a free public reception, July 17, 5pm – 7pm
The Joy Life Collection exhibit runs through August 25 and is sponsored by Patrick and Hallie Henrickson.
