WGTC Announces Amanda Thomas as Assistant Vice President of Institutional Research and Effectiveness

Amanda Thomas

West Georgia Technical College (WGTC) is proud to announce the appointment of Amanda Thomas as the Assistant Vice President of Institutional Research and Effectiveness. With nearly ten years of experience in higher education leadership, Thomas brings a strong background in academic compliance, accreditation, curriculum development and institutional assessment.

In her new role at WGTC, Thomas will serve as the college’s SACSCOC liaison and lead a team focused on strategic planning, research, outcomes assessment and data-driven improvements. She will also coordinate surveys, reports and planning tools to foster a culture of accountability and growth.

“I was drawn to this position because I care deeply about accreditation and compliance; I see them as much more than a set of requirements to check off, but powerful tools for improving academic programs and shaping the direction of the college,” said Thomas. “My goal is to help ensure that we not only meet accreditation and compliance standards but also utilize them as a means of continuous improvement.”

In her most recent role, Thomas led system-wide initiatives for the University System of Georgia’s eCampus as Director of Academic Compliance, ensuring that collaborative programs across 23 institutions adhered to SACSCOC and other accrediting standards through credentialing oversight, curriculum evaluation and data-informed compliance strategies. Prior to that, she served as Director of Assessment at the University of West Georgia, where she partnered with campus leadership and faculty to refine evaluation frameworks, enhance accreditation processes and promote academic excellence.

“We are excited to welcome Amanda to the senior leadership team,” said WGTC President Dr. Julie Post.  “She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge, as well as the perfect acumen and organizational acuity for this role.”
