Fine artists from across the United States will gather downtown October 11 and 12 when The Arts Festival of Carrollton returns to the Center for the Arts.
“Each year I wonder how we can make the next festival even better,” said Center for the Arts Manager Tim Chapman. “Our festival committee has once again organized a great event.”
Now in its 22nd year, the two-day event is held annually on the second weekend in October and features more than 60 visual and literary artists, live entertainment and demonstrations and food vendors. The festival will also host a performance by the Carrollton Jazz Orchestra at the Amp at Adamson Square, that Saturday night at 7pm.
In addition to perusing and shopping the artists’ work, festivalgoers can enjoy activities and art educational stops including an Art Student Union screen print demo, a UWG Art Ed art stop, caricature artist Kevin V, a pottery demo by Melanie Drew from Blue Heron Studio, face painting and a stilt walker/performer.
Food vendors on hand will include Nashville Hot Chicken, Big Pat’s BBQ, Heavenly Bowls and Butter’dudder.
The University of West Georgia and the Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum are collaborating with the arts center.
Due to construction on the west side of the arts center, the festival’s footprint will shift more toward the east side of the property. Some artists and activities will be located inside the building including all live entertainment which will be performed on the Danny Mabry stage. Parking for the festival – and other events at the arts center – is available at the Barnes Street parking deck and other parking areas downtown.
