Newest investment to create more than 85 jobs in Cleburne County.
As part of its ongoing modernization efforts, Southwire is pleased to announce that it is expanding its Heflin, Ala. operations, a move that will add approximately 340,000 square feet to the location’s footprint. This project, which is expected to create more than 85 new jobs, reinforces the company’s commitment to its team members, customers and communities.
Now in its 75th year, Southwire continues to reinforce its mission – We Deliver Power… Responsibly® – in support of its customers around the globe. As the leading wire and cable solutions provider in North America, the company is enhancing its proven legacy and trusted reputation by building upon its strengths to attain sustainable, strategic growth.
Southwire’s Heflin Plant, which opened in 1996 as Forte Power Systems, was built to support medium and high voltage cable production.
This will be Southwire’s fourth expansion at the Heflin Plant, highlighting the company’s ongoing commitment to reinvesting in core wire and cable operations. This site is also home to Southwire’s most tenured team member, Milton Burson, whose legacy with the company spans 61 years so far.
Southwire’s upgrades at the Heflin Plant will enhance state-of-the-art medium voltage cable production at the site. The new expansion will total 340,000 square feet.
In addition to capacity and production expansion, the facility design includes comfort cooling and other efforts to provide a modernized team member experience as well as sustainability enhancements, like a rainwater collection tank for designated facility operations.
Construction is expected to begin in late 2025 with equipment and capacity coming online in late 2027.
