What was once planned to be home to flaky biscuits and rich gravy is now making way for fiery tenders and crave-worthy heat. The space originally intended for Maple Street Biscuit Company in Suite 700 at Fischer Marketplace, the Publix-anchored shopping center in Sharpsburg, will instead become the newest location of Dave’s Hot Chicken.
Coweta County Community Development confirmed that construction is moving forward, officially sealing the deal on the popular chicken chain’s arrival in the area. The change in plans was also referenced in a recent press release detailing the off-market sale of the property, handled by Hanley Investment Group.
Sharpsburg locals can expect the cult-favorite brand to make a sizzling debut, turning up the heat on the local food scene, which has seen a flurry of new arrivals in recent years.
For those unfamiliar, Dave’s Hot Chicken started as a humble parking lot pop-up in Los Angeles and has since grown into a nationwide sensation. Known for its no-nonsense menu, featuring chicken tenders and sliders spiced from “No Heat” to “Reaper,” the brand has carved out a loyal fanbase that spans far beyond its West Coast roots.
The Sharpsburg opening won’t be the chain’s first in Georgia. Dave’s already has a location in Columbus just an hour south, and several more scattered across metro Atlanta, including a recently opened spot in Sandy Springs and another on the way in Cumming. The Sharpsburg restaurant is expected to draw heat-seekers from across Coweta County and surrounding areas.
With construction confirmed, fans won’t have to wait too much longer to get their hands on one of the most buzzed-about chicken sandwiches in the country. Stay tuned, Sharpsburg is about to get a lot hotter.
