Authentic Mexican Flavor Arrives in Downtown LaGrange with Ramirez La Familia

A new taste of Mexico is making its way to downtown LaGrange just in time for the new year. Ramirez La Familia, a family-owned Mexican restaurant, is preparing to open in the former home of YAMA at 111 Main Street on the square. This marks the third location for the Ramirez family, who already run popular spots in Tallapoosa and West Point.

For the Ramirez family, the move to LaGrange is both a homecoming and a new opportunity. “We’ve been in LaGrange for years,” they shared. “My son and husband both love the restaurant world. This one’s really for him, he’s the one cooking, along with my husband. It’s all family.”

While the LaGrange menu will closely resemble the Tallapoosa location, expect a few more traditional favorites that cater to the area’s growing Hispanic community. “We’re trying to go more authentic here,” they said. “Things like soups and weekend specials, real Mexican flavors that people are looking for.”

Their focus on authenticity has already built a loyal following, even in areas with fewer Hispanic diners. “Our customers, many who aren’t Hispanic; come in asking for corn tortillas, cilantro, onions, and our hot sauces. They want real flavor.”

Downtown LaGrange, known for its charm but not necessarily its depth in traditional Mexican cuisine, now has a chance to offer something truly different. Ramirez La Familia plans to open December 26 or 27, pending final inspections.

If all goes well, residents can ring in the new year with tacos, caldo de res, and a warm welcome from a family that’s all about flavor and community. And yes, their wings are pretty great, too.
