The Mountainfilm on Tour film festival returns to the Carrollton Center for the Arts, January 3, featuring a selection of culturally rich, adventure-packed and inspiring documentary films curated from the Mountainfilm festival in Telluride, Colorado.
“This year’s film festival consists of inspirational, touching, thought provoking and exhilarating films,” said Arts Center Manager Tim Chapman. “Appealing to everyone from teens to seniors, it’s the perfect way to set your course for the New Year.”
Begun in 1979, Telluride’s Mountainfilm is one of America’s longest-running film festivals. It is held every Memorial Day weekend and showcases stories about environmental, cultural, climbing, political and social justice issues. Along with exceptional documentaries, the festival goes beyond the film medium by bringing together world-class athletes, change makers and visionary artists for a multi-dimensional celebration of indomitable spirit. Mountainfilm’s mission is to use the power of film, art and ideas to inspire audiences to create a better world and is an Academy Award qualifying festival in the Documentary Short Film category. Mountainfilm on Tour also reaches audiences year-round through its global film program and through Mountainfilm for Students, an educational outreach initiative for youth.
