Free Tire Amnesty Event Returns to Carroll County This Spring

Carroll County residents will have two opportunities this spring to safely dispose of unwanted tires during the free tire amnesty event hosted at the Carroll County Transfer Station. The first collection week is scheduled for March 14 through March 21, 2026, followed by a second event from June 6 through June 13, 2026.

The Transfer Station will accept tires during its regular business hours from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday (closed on Sundays). On Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., volunteers from Keep Carroll Beautiful will be on-site to assist residents with mobility issues in unloading their tires.

This event is made possible through a partnership between Keep Carroll Beautiful, Carroll County Government, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, and Gradick Communications. Funding support comes from the STAR EPD program grant, which helps communities collect and recycle passenger vehicle tires at no cost to residents.

Amnesty events like this one help eliminate illegally dumped tires that can collect rainwater and become breeding grounds for mosquitoes, rodents, and other pests.

Event Guidelines:

  • Each resident may drop off up to 10 passenger vehicle tires (PVTs) for free. No rims will be accepted.
  • Additional tires can be dropped off for a fee of $5 per tire, payable at the time of drop-off.
  • Larger tires will be converted into PVT equivalents and counted toward the 10-tire limit. For example, one tractor-trailer tire counts as 10 PVTs.
  • If you are cleaning up a tire dump on your property, please call 678-321-4816 in advance.
