Community Foundation of West Georgia Announces New “Take Root Grant” and Invites the Community to Become Seed Funders

The Community Foundation of West Georgia is excited to announce a new annual grant opportunity, the Take Root Grant, made possible entirely through its growing community of monthly donors known as Seed Funders.

Since its inception, the Seed Funders program has been quietly but powerfully growing, uniting individuals who believe that small, consistent gifts can lead to meaningful, long-term change. These early supporters are now being recognized as Founding Seed Funders for their role in helping shape this new funding opportunity for West Georgia.

The Take Root Grant will award funds to one nonprofit organization serving Carroll, Haralson, or Heard County. The grant is designed to support new or emerging projects, including first-time programs, fresh ideas, and grassroots initiatives that can make a strong impact with targeted, early-stage funding.

“The Take Root Grant allows donors to see their contributions in action,” said Kim Jones, President of the Community Foundation of West Georgia. “Seed Funders are not just giving. They are helping decide which projects will grow and thrive in our community.”

What makes the Take Root Grant unique is the role Seed Funders will play in the process. Once applications are reviewed, Seed Funders will be invited to vote on the proposals and help select the project they believe will make the greatest difference in the community.

“Seed Funders demonstrate how small, consistent gifts can have a big impact,” said Cindy Sanders, Manager of Communications and Partnerships and Grants Administrator for the Foundation. “This grant allows donors to support projects that might just be the start of something amazing for West Georgia.”

Additional details about the Take Root Grant, including application information, will be released in the coming months.

The Community Foundation of West Georgia also invites community members to join the Seed Funders program. With monthly gifts starting at just $10, Seed Funders help dispel the myth that only large or wealthy donors can make a difference. By coming together through small, consistent contributions, Seed Funders support new ideas, emerging nonprofits, and long-term community impact. Participation is open to anyone who believes in growing change from the ground up.

The Take Root Grant reflects the Foundation’s commitment to collaborative philanthropy and to empowering both donors and nonprofits to create lasting change in West Georgia.
