The bookstore was awarded a $20,000 grant that will help support upcoming renovations and improvements inside the longtime downtown business.

According to the press release from Main Street America and American Express, more than 500 small businesses across the country were selected to receive funding through the program, which awarded over $10 million in grants to help businesses grow, innovate, and continue supporting their local communities. Following Memorial Day weekend, Horton’s bookstore will temporarily close as renovations begin inside the store. Planned updates include a completely redone ceiling, new light fixtures, and several additional interior improvements aimed at refreshing the historic downtown space while preserving its longtime character.
