Gabrien Eng Receives National Recognition at FBLA Collegiate National Leadership Conference

Recent West Georgia Technical College (WGTC) graduate Gabrien Eng earned national recognition in both events she competed in at the FBLA Collegiate National Leadership Conference, held in Las Vegas, Nevada, June 5–9, 2026.

Eng finished fourth in Foundations of Hospitality Management and eighth in Job Interview. Foundations of Hospitality Management challenges members to demonstrate their understanding of essential concepts in the hospitality and tourism industries through an objective test. The event covers topics such as customer service, event planning, travel and tourism, hotel operations, and industry trends.

Job Interview challenges members to develop professional job application materials and demonstrate effective interviewing skills. The event includes a pre-judged résumé and cover letter, along with a live interview to evaluate communication, poise, and readiness for the workplace.

“I am absolutely so proud of her accomplishments,” said Marschell Davidson, FBLA Collegiate adviser for WGTC. “This is a very tedious test with numerous colleges, technical schools and universities in attendance. She had to prepare for several hours on both of her topics. She took so much time researching, studying, writing and roleplaying in order to prepare. She is an awesome young lady.”

Including Eng, WGTC had eight students compete at the conference.

“West Georgia Technical College was represented by eight student competitors who demonstrated professionalism, dedication, and school pride throughout the conference,” Davidson said. “While only the top ten competitors in each event receive national recognition, all of our students represented WGTC exceptionally well.”

Davidson said all eight students gained valuable experience through the opportunities the conference provided.

“The conference was an outstanding educational experience for our students,” Davidson said. “Throughout the event, they attended workshops and presentations focused on business and industry, influence, innovation, and technology. These sessions provided valuable opportunities for professional development, leadership growth, and networking with students and business professionals from across the nation.”
