The University of West Georgia will welcome Courtney Block, the 2026 Ingo Swann Research Fellow, for a free public lecture exploring the often-overlooked contributions of women in the field of parapsychology.
The lecture will take place Thursday, Aug. 20, at 7 p.m. at Ingram Library on UWG’s main campus in Carrollton.
Block is an author, researcher and academic librarian whose work focuses on anomalous human experiences, the history of psychical research and the cultural impact of consciousness studies. Through her research, she works to bring greater attention to lesser-known women whose contributions have shaped the history of parapsychology.
As part of her fellowship, Block has been exploring UWG’s Human Consciousness collections, including materials from the historic Ingo Swann archives. The Ingo Swann Research Fellowship supports innovative scholarship in parapsychology while encouraging researchers to make creative use of these unique library collections.
The Aug. 20 lecture offers the public an opportunity to learn more about Block’s research and the stories of women whose work has often been overlooked in the history of parapsychology.
The event is free and open to the public.
