Three students from the Coweta County School System have been selected to participate in Delta Community Credit Union’s High School Apprentice Program for the 2026-2027 school year. They are among 20 new apprentices in this year’s program. In addition, three students from the previous group are returning for a second year.
Liam Alford, a senior at East Coweta High School, is getting hands-on experience at Delta Community’s Peachtree City branch at the Braelinn Village Shopping Center; Angel Hernandez, a senior at Newnan High School, is at its Newnan branch on Highway 34 East; and Sawyer Kingston, a junior at Northgate High School, is at the credit union’s second Newnan location in the Coweta Crossroads Shopping Center.
The students spent part of their summer completing teller training, including learning how to process transactions and work with members. They are now putting those skills into practice at Delta Community branches.
“It is our pleasure to welcome this year’s high school apprentices, who were selected from a pool of highly qualified and impressive candidates,” said Emily Browning, senior talent acquisition specialist at Delta Community. “For the past two decades, our apprenticeship program has helped students gain the skills, knowledge and confidence to develop successful careers, with some former apprentices going on to full-time positions at Delta Community.”
Delta Community’s apprenticeships are coordinated through Georgia’s Work-Based Learning Program, which allows students to gain real-world experience, earn a salary and receive academic credit during the school year.
Nearly 270 students have participated in Delta Community’s High School Apprentice Program since it was launched in 2006.
