Keep Newnan Beautiful (KNB), in partnership with Coweta County, collected an impressive 59.5 tons of tires during its Tire Amnesty event held October 17, 2026. The event provided Coweta County residents with an opportunity to properly dispose of unwanted tires, helping protect the environment and promote healthier, cleaner communities.
The event was funded through a grant from the Solid Waste Trust Fund, administered by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD). This funding helped support responsible tire disposal and address an important environmental concern in Coweta County.
“Collecting 59.5 tons of tires is a tremendous accomplishment for our community,” said Page Beckwith, Director of Keep Newnan Beautiful. “Events like this give residents a convenient way to dispose of unwanted tires responsibly. This helps prevent illegal dumping, reduces mosquito breeding habitats, and protects the environment we all share. We are grateful for the support of the Solid Waste Trust Fund and the many community partners who helped make this event possible.”
Keep Newnan Beautiful extends its sincere appreciation to the Coweta County Correctional Institution and its leadership for providing essential labor, Coweta County Public Works Department, and the Coweta County Parks and Recreation Department for providing the event location. Their contributions were instrumental in making the event a success. Through collaboration among local governments, community partners, and residents, events like this demonstrate how working together can reduce waste, prevent environmental hazards, and protect the natural resources we all share.
Keep Newnan Beautiful is a City of Newnan program dedicated to keeping the community clean, green, and beautiful through litter prevention, recycling, environmental education, and community beautification initiatives.
