Central Middle to undergo $6.1 million renovation project

Carroll County Schools will soon begin a large renovation project at Central Middle School, which includes many areas of the building. This project includes the addition of four regular classrooms, an agriculture classroom and lab suite, and a new lobby. With a new agriculture education suite in place, the existing lab and classroom will be repurposed into multi-use classrooms.

According to a CCS spokesperson, renovations to the 4010 building include intercom replacement, new doors, windows, ceilings, flooring, acoustical wall panels, lighting and a fresh coat of paint. Restrooms will be modernized, and skylights will be covered with translucent panels backed by LED lighting. The cafeteria will be renovated to include additional security cameras, new data cabling and rewiring. Two existing classrooms will be utilized for cafeteria expansion.

The 4010 building housing the cafeteria will be outfitted with a new individual unit HVAC system, as well. The estimated total cost for the project is $6.1 million with about $5.6 million from SPLOST funds and the balance in state funds. The work on this project is expected to begin this fall with an expected completion by Fall of 2025.
