CFVPI, short for Community Family Violence Prevention Initiative, is a grassroots, privately-funded, nonprofit serving West Georgia through motorcycles. CFVPI announces the release of their seventh annual “Powerful Women Powerful Motorcycles” calendar. Female motorcyclists from all over the United States volunteer with CFVPI by participating in the annual calendar project.
CFVPI founder and survivor Tima Humphries has ridden her 2003 Harley Davidson Road King, named Justice, more than 65,000 miles across the U. S. since 2016. Her goal is to reach 100,000 miles of advocacy. Tima, along with several other women, are passionate about spreading the awareness of violence prevention and helping victims.
Using the motorcycle is a creative way to open dialogue about a difficult subject matter: “When we put a calendar in the hands of someone, they instantly become a resource, the centerfold of the calendar contains lifesaving information and helplines. Through the motorcycle and the calendar, we raise awareness, provide lifesaving resources, educate others; and all proceeds of the calendar help to serve victims of family violence crimes in West Georgia.”
The cities of Bremen, Carrollton, and Villa Rica are each recognizing October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month by issuing a proclamation at each of their city council meetings. CFVPI will be present at Carrollton and Villa Rica proclamations and is appreciative of our municipal leaders’ standing alongside service providers and other stakeholders to raise awareness of the prevalent, devastating crime. It is a significant milestone and powerful message of support for victims of domestic violence as well as their families in the West Georgia community.
