JoAnn Fabrics and Crafts Closing 12 Stores in Georgia, Including Newnan, Douglasville, and Fayetteville Locations

JoAnn Fabrics and Crafts is closing 12 locations across Georgia, including its store in Newnan, as part of a nationwide downsizing effort. The closures come as JoAnn, a staple for sewing, quilting, and crafting enthusiasts, works through financial challenges under a court-supervised restructuring process.

JoAnn’s Financial Struggles Lead to Store Closures

According to a press release from JoAnn, the company filed a motion on February 12, 2025, to close approximately 500 stores nationwide as part of its ongoing Chapter 11 bankruptcy process. The company stated that “right-sizing our store footprint is a critical part of our efforts to ensure the best path forward for JoAnn.”

While JoAnn remains committed to serving its customers and employees throughout this transition, these closures mark a significant shift for the retailer, which has been a crafting destination for more than 80 years.

What’s Next for Local Crafters?

With these store closures, customers will need to turn to other craft supply options such as Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Walmart, Target, and online retailers like JoAnn’s website, Amazon, and Etsy.

While JoAnn’s future remains uncertain, the company has reassured customers that it will continue to operate many of its remaining stores and its online business. In the meantime, those impacted by the closures may find clearance sales at their local stores before they officially shut down.
