After nearly two years, things are finally moving forward with the new Whataburger planned for Carrollton. Originally announced in September 2023, the restaurant is set to be built at the site of the former BB&T bank branch near Target and Zaxby’s.
On Monday, August 4, 2024; the City of Carrollton confirmed that permits have been signed, giving Whataburger the green light to begin construction. While an official start date hasn’t been announced, the build is expected to begin sometime this fall if everything stays on schedule.
In addition to the Carrollton restaurant, Whataburger will soon open another location down the road in Sharpsburg, which is about 45 minutes from Carrollton, give or take a few. This new spot is located near the Costco.
B92 Country was the first to break the news about the Carrollton development in 2023. As things continue to move ahead, local residents can look forward to welcoming one of Texas’ most iconic burger chains to town.
