Elliott emphasized that the guidance team at CHS partners with teachers, parents, and administrators to design academic plans that prepare students for success beyond graduation.

“AP courses give students the chance to experience the rigor of college-level learning while still in high school. Taking these courses reflects a student’s determination and commitment to growth and opens the door to potential college credit and meaningful advantages as students continue their academic journey,” she added.

Students take AP exams in May after completing challenging college-level courses at their high school. Most of the nation’s colleges and universities award credit based on successful performance on the AP exams.

CHS Principal Ian Lyle shared that this class of AP scholars is an exceptionally talented group, noting that the number of CHS students increased by nearly 40 students this year.

Over the last few years, Carrollton High School has gradually increased its AP course offerings as part of its focus on increasing the rigor of coursework for college-bound students.
