If you’re driving out of Tallapoosa on Highway 78, keep an eye out for a new restaurant that’s already building a loyal following. Tucked inside the same building as Quick Stop West, this cozy spot is serving up home-cooked Southern food with a whole lot of heart. Donna’s Country Cooking and Voodoo Treats is now open at 1325 US-78, Tallapoosa, Georgia 30176
The owner isn’t new to the food world—she’s been at it since 1995. She started at a truck stop, spent years renting kitchens, then took her business mobile with a food truck. Eventually, she landed back at her home base and rented out the back room of the building to create a small dining area. From there, it grew one step at a time.
Now, she’s running a full buffet with lunch from 11:00 to 3:00, dinner from 5:00 to 8:00, and Sunday buffet hours from 11:00 to 4:00. For now, it’s $12.99 for all-you-can-eat, including drinks and dessert. A salad bar is in the works, which may raise the price slightly, depending on grocery costs—but she’s doing her best to keep it affordable.
Everything’s made from scratch. Think fried chicken, hamburger steak, pork chops, country fried steak, green beans, mashed potatoes, okra, corn—you name it. It’s classic comfort food done right, just like Grandma used to make.
And then there’s the sweet side of things: Voodoo Treats. It’s part of the same business and features milkshakes, slushies, ice cream, snow cones, and the crowd favorite—Voodoo Bombs. These are hot, glazed, made-to-order donut-hole-style desserts in flavors like chocolate peanut butter, peach, apple, and more. You can even mix and match.
They also bake homemade pies and cakes daily. On any given day, you might find Oreo pie, pecan pie, Snickers pie, or lemon pound cake fresh out of the oven.
As her son puts it, “Taste the tradition.” And that’s really what this place is all about—good food made with love, served by people who care. So stop by, say hello, and if you introduce yourself, you might even get a free dessert.
