The roots and soul of American music will fill downtown Carrollton, August 8, as the Amp at Adamson Square welcomes Paul Thorn and Mike Farris.
Raised in Tupelo, Mississippi, Paul Thorn has captivated audiences for more than three decades with his unique blend of Southern rock, country, Americana and blues, delivered with soulful vocals, sharp storytelling and unmistakable humor. Before launching his music career, Thorn was a successful professional boxer, winning the Mid-South Middleweight Championship and even facing legendary former world champion Roberto Durán in a nationally televised bout. Thorn released his debut album, Hammer & Nail, in 1997 and has since built a fiercely independent career, earning critical acclaim with albums including Pimps and Preachers, What the Hell Is Going On and Too Blessed to Be Stressed. He has shared the stage with artists such as Sting, John Prine, Bonnie Raitt, Mark Knopfler, Robert Cray, Jeff Beck and Huey Lewis and the News.
Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Mike Farris’ career is rooted in American gospel, blues and rock. He rose to prominence as the founder and frontman of the Screamin’ Cheetah Wheelies then launched a celebrated solo career that has earned widespread critical acclaim, including the 2014 Grammy Award for Best Roots Gospel Album. His powerful, deeply personal music reflects a journey of redemption and resilience. Equally at home on festival stages, historic venues and high-profile collaborations, Farris continues to captivate audiences with his enduring commitment to authentic American roots music.
