Kroger is preparing a major renovation of its grocery store at 1524 Highway 16 West in Griffin, Georgia, with the planned investment totaling more than $3 million.
Construction documents identify the project as the Kroger GA-619 Minor Remodel. Although described as a minor remodel, the plans outline substantial improvements across approximately 35,000 square feet of the existing 101,440-square-foot store. The work will include removing, installing and relocating furniture, fixtures and equipment, along with related plumbing, refrigeration and electrical upgrades.
Customers can expect updates throughout several parts of the store. The plans call for refreshed restrooms with new sinks, mirrors and partitions, as well as improvements to the pharmacy area, including new signage, countertops and selected millwork repairs.
Additional work is expected to include new or relocated refrigerated cases, updated shelving, lighting improvements in the vestibule, refreshed finishes and new column wraps. Plans also mention potential exterior pickup signage, new merchandising displays and the possible addition of a second cardboard baler.
The renovation will extend beyond cosmetic changes. Detailed construction documents include plumbing modifications, electrical work, refrigeration-system improvements, fire-alarm coordination and repairs to areas affected by equipment relocation. The store’s existing emergency lighting, exit signage, sprinkler system and fire-alarm system are generally expected to remain in place.
According to the project requirements, much of the work affecting the sales floor will be performed at night to limit disruption to customers. Temporary barriers and dust-control measures will also be used to separate active construction areas from shoppers.
The project documents were prepared for The Kroger Co.’s Atlanta Division by Robertson Loia Roof, an Alpharetta-based architecture and engineering firm. Plans are dated May 2026, while the accompanying project manual was issued in June 2026. It appears that construction could start anyday.
Once completed, the $3 million-plus Kroger renovation in Griffin should provide shoppers with an updated store environment, improved fixtures and refreshed service areas while modernizing many of the building’s behind-the-scenes systems.
