Campus Outreach of West Georgia is set to host its inaugural Campus Outreach Banquet on April 10, featuring retired Major League Baseball star Jeff Francoeur. The event is open to the public and is aimed at increasing Campus Outreach’s efforts on the University of West Georgia’s campus.
“We chose Jeff because he’s an Atlanta guy, and he’s a man of big faith,” said Campus Outreach Director Ben Weber. “He’s a man of high character and has a lot of integrity. He’s very passionate about sharing the Gospel on college campuses. Jeff just retired last year, and he wants to focus on sharing his faith on college campuses, so we thought this would be a great way to highlight our inaugural banquet.”
The banquet will feature athletes and other community members who will share their personal stories of how their faiths impacted their lives.
Campus Outreach is an non-denominational ministry focused on sharing the Christian faith with students on college campuses. The group holds weekly meetings that hope to share their message of faith to students. Weber said he hopes this year’s banquet will help the organization gain exposure to many college students and community members in the west Georgia area.
“We’re hosting this banquet to celebrate everything that God has done for us over these past ten years,” said Weber. “We try to lead Bible studies for students at the UWG campus. We do them for every sports team, sorority and fraternity, and in each student dorm. Its something we hope will grow and continue for a long time.”
The event will take place in the UWG Coliseum on April 10 at 6:00 p.m. and will also have some of our student athletes and coaches who have experienced life-changing stories and testimonies at the banquet.
