Sony’s CD And Video Distribution Business To End In Carrollton

BREAKING NEWS : Approximately 105 out of 200 people currently employed at Sony’s distribution center in Carrollton, Georgia will be without a job during the first quarter of 2013. The CD and Video distribution business will close. All video distribution will transfer to Bolingbrook, IL. Approximately 95 of the remaining employees at the Carrollton Sony Distribution center will stay performing auto and hand pack functions. Due to the continued challenges posed by economic conditions and the current competitive landscape, Sony DADC has been forced to make the difficult decision to close its CD distribution businesses in Carrollton, GA.  This closures will affect 105 employees in Carrollton, GA. The music distribution operation in Carrollton will close the first quarter of 2013. The video distribution work being handled by Carrollton will transition to our main video distribution hub in Bolingbrook, IL. No final decisions have yet been made regarding the Auto and Hand Pack functions in Carrollton and the SCEA distribution operation in Villa Rica (the offsite facility near Carrollton).  We expect to provide greater clarity with respect to these groups by the end of March.  There are approximately 100 employees in these groups.
