Several of our Facebook fans have asked us to provide you with the CEO Memo regarding the flooding at Tanner’s new emergency room addition. Below is a copy from Tanner Health System. We did not cover this story because we wanted the other media outlets such as Gradick Communications & The Times Georgian to keep you updated with this specific news story. The Carrollton Menu will always share a story if we think it is appropriate for us.
Dear Community Friends,
I regret that I must inform you that Tanner has been forced to delay the public open house for our new emergency department and surgical services areas, which was scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 25. Late Thursday evening, we experienced a break in the fire suppression system, resulting in the release of a large quantity of water inside the new building.
While we believe this accident has not caused any serious damage to our new hospital areas, it is in the best interest and safety of our community members to postpone our Saturday open house until we are able to more thoroughly restore the area to its original condition.
Over the next few weeks, the damage will be evaluated to determine the amount of restoration needed. Our Tanner team will work closely with contractors to ensure that all areas are back to the state-of-the-art condition that our patients deserve.
Even during such an unfortunate situation, I was so pleased and proud to see Tanner employees from literally all parts of the organization working side-by-side with fire department officials and vendors. Everyone worked throughout the night to clear the area of water and debris, removing furniture, artwork and clinical equipment from harm’s way.
I would also like to thank the Carrollton Fire Department, who arrived within minutes of the alarm and immediately began pitching in to assist our team. The pride this community feels about our hospital was evident in the faces, enthusiasm and teamwork that I witnessed. It was truly humbling, and it is such a positive reflection on the exceptional community in which we live and work.
An announcement of the new open house date will be made as soon as possible. Please know that our staff and contractors will work around the clock to open the doors to this beautiful, state-of-the-art facility to our community as quickly as possible.
Thank you for your continued support of Tanner Health System.
Sincerely,
Loy Howard
