Tanner Medical Center Carrollton Showcasing Gift Shop & Bistro Friday

For Immediate Release

Dec. 5, 2012

With New Atrium Open, Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton

Showcasing Gift Shop, Bistro on Friday

With the new outpatient surgery atrium now open along Clinic Avenue at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton, Tanner is inviting residents to take  an up-close look at two of the facility’s newest amenities.

On Friday, Dec. 7, the Lamplighter gift shop and Bistro ‘49—now open in their new locations near the outpatient surgery atrium—will host an open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

During that time, the Lamplighter will offer a 20-percent discount on all Christmas décor, much of which cannot be found anywhere else in Carrollton. At Bistro ’49, visitors will be treated to free samples of holiday coffee blends from Starbucks.

Also on Friday, the Golden Treasures gift shop at Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica will feature 20-percent off all Christmas items from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Golden Treasures is located just off the hospital’s rotunda, between the outpatient and emergency department entrances.

The new atrium at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton provides easy access to the hospital’s expanded surgical services unit, as well as registration services. All of this comes in addition to the Lamplighter gift shop and Bistro ’49. Additional parking is available for surgical services patients, and complementary valet service is provided.

Bistro ’49 serves specialty sandwiches, pastries and Starbucks coffees. The Lamplighter, the hospital’s longtime gift shop overseen by the Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton Auxiliary, features a bigger, brighter location with more space for the unique gifts that have long been a staple for the area’s residents—especially during Christmastime.

Originally scheduled to open in September, a ruptured fire suppression line in the hospital’s new emergency department left two inches of standing water on the unit, damaging flooring, drywall and more, as well as areas beneath the unit. The rupture forced the hospital to delay opening the new atrium until about a week ago. Crews continue to make repairs to the new emergency department, which is expected to open early next year.

“We think this is a great opportunity for people to stop in and see the amenities now available in their community,” said Loy Howard, president and CEO of Tanner Health System. “The newly redesigned Lamplighter gift shop and the new Bistro ’49 are part of a unique approach to improving the care and comfort of our patients and visitors. I encourage people to show support of their community hospital at Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica, as well as by visiting the Golden Treasures gift shop on Friday.”
