This morning we were alerted by a tipster on Facebook that the Aldi in Douglasville, “will be closed for an undetermined amount of time due to damage received from a fire last night.” We immediately contacted Wes Tallon, Director of the Communications and Community Relations Department in Douglasville. He explained the call came in around 2:30AM from someone driving by who saw smoke rising out the top of the building. Fire department executed a forced entry through a window. The smell indicated an electrical fire however the source was soon found to be coming from the store’s cooler. The fire was quickly resolved and there does not sound to be evidence of any structural damage. Aldi was unavailable for comment. We will post more information as it is released to us.
