Freshman move in will begin in the new housing development called East Village Housing and Dining at The University Of West Georgia on Aug 23 and 24. RA-LIN and Associates provided construction management for the multi-phased campus building project. The construction budget was right at 31 million dollars. This project included The Oaks, which is a new residence hall with 1 or 2 beds and in room bathrooms. Also included in the project was a major restoration of Bowdon Hall. Bowdon Hall is 100% wheelchair accessible now with new elevators and elevated walkways. Bowdon Hall underwent major upgrades including more privacy for the community styled bathrooms. Several individual study rooms are also available. A wonderful kitchen for everyone to share is on each floor. Downs and Boykin Halls were razed for the project. A new dining area will be operated by ARAMARK and seat around 320 people on the eastside of the campus. This dining hall was much needed and will be easily accessible to the east-side of the campus and all the new housing. Several pictures are available of the entire construction project and updates at https://www.facebook.com/pages/UWG-Housing/171132722511 .. The Department of Housing & Residence Life is currently moving into their new home inside the East Commons area. They are moving from their cramped Mandeville Hall location on Front Campus Drive.
