Earlier today I reported that a 100-room The Ritz-Carlton Hotel would be opening in LaGrange. Further research has proved this to inaccurate information. I apologize for reporting this and have provided a detailed explanation of what transpired below.
I reached out to a colleague, Eli Zandman, who works at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Buckhead and asked if the LaGrange project was for real. Shocked, Eli contacted the Ritz corporate development team in Chevy Chase, Maryland to inquire about the project. Eli was given an unequivocal no when asked if the project was real. I later called Ron Orr, listed as the developer of the project. Orr explained that there was a clerical recording error and that while there is a hotel opening, the hotel will be a Marriott, not The-Ritz Carlton. For the record, Marriott owns The Ritz-Carlton. There are currently three The Ritz-Carlton hotels in Atlanta, Buckhead and Lake Oconee and no plans for any further development in the Peach State.
Special Thanks to Eli Zandman for his help in contributing to the article.
