UPDATE:Â The Carrollton Lakeshore Pool and Aquatics Center will soon see a renovation. Â We spoke with Carrollton Parks & Recreation director Peter Maierhofer who gave us details on the upcoming renovation. Â There is a meeting slated for February 25th to determine whether a prison inmate work crew will be used or a general contractor. Â Using the prison inmate work crew for renovations would result in savings of $400,000-$500,000. However, there is a drawback in using a prison inmate work crew which is that the project would take about two years to complete. Â The renovations will include locker rooms that would connect the pool and center with the fitness center. Â The renovation will definitely be useful when swim meets take place in the future. Return for more details. Â Update by Jimmy Beck

According to public construction records we obtained online, Lakeshore Recreation Center on Lumpkin Drive is undergoing some improvements and a small renovation. The records indicate that a new handicap ramp will be built, new carpet will be laid, and a new floor is being added. The restrooms are also receiving a makeover. We have a message into the contractor about other possible work being done at this location. We will have more details as they become available.
