Villa Rica, GA — As part of the restaurant’s reopening celebration, O’Charley’s at 921 S. Carroll Road in Villa Rica recognized U.S. Marine Corps World War II veteran James Pack as a Hometown Hero on Monday, July 21 at 11:30 a.m. The restaurant also held a ribbon cutting with the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the grand reopening.

Pack joined the Marines in November 1943 and completed his training in Montford Point, North Carolina. He served two deployments – one during the Battle of Saipan of the Pacific campaign of WWII, and another during the Battle of Okinawa. Pack was involved in combat during both deployments, each with a different Marine company. He received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with two stars, the World War II Victory Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. Pack was also awarded the United States Congressional Gold Medal for his service. He ended his service career at the end of World War II in 1946 with the final rank of Corporal. Pack is currently a dedicated member of the Marine Corps League.

O’Charley’s is honoring Hometown Heroes at 40 remodeled restaurant locations this year in conjunction with the company’s revitalization and reimaging plan. O’Charley’s has a longstanding history of honoring veterans and active duty soldiers. More than 50 individuals were honored during last year’s Hometown Hero programs.

“These men and women who serve our country are true American heroes, and it’s important for O’Charley’s to say “thank you” in the best way we know by inviting the individuals and their families to their local restaurant for a night of celebration, food and great service,” said Mickey Mills, president of O’Charley’s. “It’s an honor to know that these veterans and soldiers – our local Hometown Heroes – will be among the first to experience the revitalized restaurants.”
