Medicine Shoppe Closes Downtown, Williams to open by Courthouse.

It’s a tale of two pharmacies in Douglasville this week. The closing of one legacy pharmacy downtown, while another a short trip away is building to open. The Medicine Shoppe, which was located on Church St. just across the street from Regions Bank closed over the holidays. At first a tipster to the menu thought they maybe had relocated to another location such as the one in Lithia Springs did a few years ago. Sadly after investigating we found that the Douglasville location just folded. Recently, the Carrollton location also closed its doors. A sign on the front door instructs patients with prescriptions to the Rite Aid on Chapel Hill Rd and Stewart Mill Rd.

Meanwhile just a short drive away south next to the courthouse and a jump from WellStar Douglas Hospital comes a new local pharmacy set to open. Last week, the sign for Williams Pharmacy appeared on Hospital Dr. Today workers are inside renovating one of the suites at 8697 next to several Lawyers offices and Atlanta West Women’s Center. At this time we do not have an opening date for the pharmacy, nor is there any social media or websites that we can contact. As soon as we hear from the owners on an opening date, we’ll bring it to you here.

***Update: The owners at Williams reached out to us today, and are reporting that they are trying for a mid-January opening. They will let us know as soon as they have an official opening date set. Give them a look on Facebook: Click Here.
