Plans for a new hotel off Highway 27 in between Aldi and Subway have been successfully submitted to the city. The independent owner of the new Holiday Inn Express & Suites tells us that construction should start sometime in August of this year. The Holiday Inn Express & Suites will open in August of 2016. This is when the former hotel will terminate its license. The new Holiday Inn Express & Suites will replace the existing hotel next to Kroger. According to construction documents and the owner, the new Holiday Inn Express & Suites will feature 79 rooms. If looking at the picture above the cleared area directly to the right of Dermo’s South Park Plaza will be the new hotel. For many years Honey Baked Ham has stored some extra trucks in this area.
