Update 5/29/15: Office Depot has now closed their Hwy 5 Location. Their last opening day was May 16. Signs on the doors are now directing you to the Chapel Hill Rd Office Max location.
Word yesterday of the closing of Office Depot located on Hwy 5. Signs outside the location at the Market Square Shopping Center at Hwy 5 and Douglas Blvd indicate the store is having a closing sale with discounted merchandise. Reached out for comment, Office Depot officials said that this closing is part of the recent national merger with Staples, who also now owns Office Max which currently has a location just 1.5 miles away on Chapel Hill Rd. Out of the two locations, the Office Max on Chapel Hill does steadier business. No word today on whether both workforces will be combined or not. The closing of Office Depot leaves the Market Square Center with some major vacancies. Currently the largest tenant outside of Office Depot is YouFit Health Club. While no indication of coming retailers, the center now has room for major tenants that currently do not have a Douglasville location. Time will tell which ones choose to locate there. Of course, any news on any retailers that choose Market Square we will let you know. The official date of closing is unknown, so grab that discounted office stuff while you can.
