One of our first breaking news stories as the Douglasville branch of The City Menus came online at the end of 2014 was the closing of S’More BBQ and replacement with Hooters. The process of getting the info was a bit tough and the info was sensitive in nature. But confirmation came that the old building that originally housed a steakhouse, then a BBQ place was becoming another restaurant chain that left Douglasville in 2011 due to company restructuring. The old location on Concourse Pkwy still sits vacant waiting on a retailer or fast food chain to take the leap and complete the parkway’s vacancy. As Hooters parent company emerged from restructuring, it was announced that all of their Metro Atlanta locations would receive a new look and upgraded restaurant space with more entertainment, and more televisions to watch the game of your preference. This announcement also included the addition of several locations, Douglasville included as well as Mall of GA. Monday March 30, the transformation of S’more BBQ into Hooters, as well as the arrival home of an already established chain will be complete. Hooters on Douglas Blvd will celebrate its Grand Opening at 5pm when it opens for business for hungry game goers now that the Final Four is just days away, as well as the start of Baseball regular season. With great investment and redevelopment of a spot that has not fared too well on the busy Douglas Blvd corridor, Hooters return could also signal Douglasville’s recovering economy and potential for new retailers and food spots to come or even return to Douglasville’s aging and vacant centers. Which one will be the next to take the leap and make Douglasville home? The possibilities are endless.
